went to get my first tattoo did today. it’s a bit of a blurry pic, hopefully I’ll get the one that the artist took, but it’s my first roller skates and it says ‘never surrender!’. I absolutely love it, roller derby means the world to me, it has transformed me in many ways and has saved me. my tattoo artist was awesome and not a douche at all, he was just as stoked as I was to do the tattoo! couldn’t be happier with it (:

met my tattoo artist the other day and he is not a douche, which is totally terrific! so I’ll be getting a thigh piece done and he wants to do it nice and big, I’ll have my first pair of roller skates in the middle with roses and different flowers behind it and then I’ll have ‘never surrender’ surrounding it! I told him that I was a bit pressed for cash at the moment so he said he would break it up into just a couple sessions (:
I have my appointment set for the 16th, but I found out I have a scrimmage I can compete in that day, so I’m going to talk to him on tuesday about getting done next weekend.

I’ll be having a derby tattoo drawn up this weekend! I’m planning on getting it in the beginning or middle of june since the fiancé said he would pay for half of it! I am so excited, it will be my first tattoo and I wanted it to be something meaningful. how much more meaningful can you get with a sport/lifestyle that has changed your world?!

My teammate said that as long as you use 95+% alcohol by volume your bearings wont rust. It’s worked wonderfully for my bearings, the trick is to get a high enough alcohol percentage.
great post! my dad owned a robotics company for pretty much his entire adult life and he has me wash my bearings with a high level alcohol content. you can get a 90% plus alcohol behind your pharmacy counter! also try using spraying some canned air to get the alcohol completely off the bearings once your done (:
you are truly evil. frankly I understand that you may be just one person running the site, but for the sake of derby get some help! names are really important to the players, as I’m sure you know this, it’s part of what makes derby, well, derby!
I put in my name in september and have yet to have it approved. on top of that, I am now putting in a name change and by the looks of things I will not have my official name for about year or more.
I know I am not the only frustrated player out there, it simply is just wrong to run a site as two evils is being run, for the love of god hand it over to someone who may have more time or get more people to run it with you!
it is incredibly frustrating when you’re bouting and you’re not even sure if your name officially belongs to you yet.
so uh, I guess, get your shit together.
